Tbilisi, Georgia. Zaza Svan got to know art in early childhood and nowadays he has over 40 years of experience as an artist. He became a professional painter, as well as an illustrator. Z. Svan uses different media in his works, like oil, acrylic paint, watercolor, Indian ink, charcoal, pencil, pastel, collage, mix-media, and computer programs: Sketchbook, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Painting is a significant way of expression for the Artist. After completing studies at a four-year Art College, holding a certificate as a painter since 1983, in different periods Z. Svan tried to create his works in realism, impressionism, expressionism, and abstraction. “Urban Naïve” become the interest of the painter since 2011, depicting modern life in New York City. Z. Svan uses the forms of friendly caricature i.e. “Naive” to show the psychological portraits of human beings. He does it originally, with a trance mood, calmly influencing people, in spite of the energetic life rhythm of New York City. An artist Zaza Svan is also a professional illustrator, having earned a Master's Degree at Tbilisi Academy of Art in 1989, completing 6 years of studies there. As Z. Svan recollects, in his childhood after reading an interesting book he would have a strong desire to express his feelings in this form of visual art. Zaza Svan is the author of designs and illustrations of numerous books, and he has not stopped this activity until now. He uses skillful strokes as he has a 15-year experience of as an Assistant Professor and drawing teacher at the Academy of Fine Art. Z. Svan possesses all the necessary education for an illustrator, knowing architecture, textiles, and history. Zaza Svan says: “I studied painting with realistic classic methodology, where I spent a lot of energy and time to become a professional, skillful artist. But, the idea and the purpose of painting is to express the attitude towards the universe and human beings using of art. Inevitably, the expressed energy is accumulated in a work and affects the audience. In my opinion, poetry as a means of aesthetic perception stands in the highest position among other fields of art. Consequently, that painting is priceless and eternal where poetry is reached, the same can be said about music.
